Carnegie Shul Chatter – March 7, 2013 Addition

I received this interesting information from Anna and Mark Silberman this evening.  Anna and Mark occassionayl attend our shul and Mark was a very good friend and AZA buddy of mine growing up.

“Our cousin is Scott Feldman, who pitched for the Texas Rangers until this year.  He was traded to the Chicago Cubs for a place in their starting rotation.  His family is originally from Uniontown, PA.  His late Grandmother was my Aunt Bertha Feldman, of Mt. Lebanon, and his Aunt Marian Zeichner lives in Mt. Lebanon.  He is expected to start against the Pirates in the opening series against the Cubs the first week of April!”

Scott Feldman

Scott broke into the big leagues in 2005 with the Texas Rangers. The 6’7″ right-hander’s best season was in 2009 when he posted a 17-8 record for the Rangers and was their Pitcher of the Year.  Feldman was the Rangers Opening Day starter in 2010 but after having knee surgery prior to the 2011 season he was removed from the Rangers rotation and moved to the bullpen in 2011 and 1012. Feldman signed a one year deal with the Chicago Cubs in November and he has been promised an opportunity to be a part of Chicago’s starting rotation.

Let’s hope that it will be a good year for Feldman except, of course, when he pitches against the Pirates.
